Ghanaian Nollywood actress Yvonne Nelson has revealed in a recent interview with BBC that she has no regret on having a child outside wedlock even when the society view is different.

In the African settings of culture and tradition, a woman is not regarded to be virtuous if before legally married you already have a child.

When a woman moves into a home of a man without the man fully paying her dowry it is considered a taboo and in some part of Africa when it comes to royalty, such a child does not have an inheritance to the royal throne even if he was the heir apparent to the throne.

When the news of her being pregnant was viral on the internet, many were shocked and were lashing words either to encourage or push her to the wall but she wasn’t distorted.

Well that is history now as the actress does not care about what people are saying about her and child, the actress is so filled with joy that she can’t hide it anymore.

From the latest interview with BBC she said;

“I believe it’s the right thing to do. To get married, have kids, and raise a family is ideal but I believe society puts a lot of pressure on women, young women in Africa especially. I am a very positive person. I don’t let all the negativity and all the bad talks get to me. I was staying positive. I had loved ones around me plus I had this beautiful blessing in my arms. It was all joy for me. I wasn’t listening to all the negativity outside at all. It didn’t really affect me at all.”

According to her when the pregnancy rumor was going viral, she said that the comes a time you want to just have a child and if your partner is also thinking same then you are all free to indulge in it, it is not necessarily important to have a child only when married.

But training up a child, it requires both parents to take responsibility because each has its own role to play in the life of the child.
