The Federal Government recently released the list of recipients for 2009 National Honours Awards. There are twenty two awardees for Members of the Federal Republic (MFR). Among the recipients is Nollywood actor, Chinedu Ikedieze aka Aki, a graduate of Mass Communication from the Institute of Management Technology (IMT),
“I see my name on the list of Nigerian for the award of Member of the Federal Republic of Nigeria [MFR]. It's Gods way of repaying me for all my effort towards and contribution to the growth of Nollywood in the country and the world in general,” Aki Said
What a lot of people in Nollywood don't understand was how Chinedu made the list when several veterans who started the race before him have not even been considered for the honours.
But that is not where I am coming from. It's not how long, but how well, right? My question is; is it fair for Government to have given Chinedu National Honour while ignoring Osita, (Paw Paw)? They started their careers same time, featured in the same movies, won many awards...so why ONLY Aki?
Please share your thoughts.

All fingers are not equal at all although they (Akin & pawpaw)may be of good comparism bt that does'nt count chinedu deserve the award dat's dat.

I think This our government don't know who to give their award. We must have many awards in our Aso Rock and looking for people to give or distribute them to.
Did Aki ask them for any award, instead of listening to the cry of the masses and doing what is right they are there distributing award, the last time they gave this type of award to Achebe he rejected it. aki does not need government award, what nigerians including Aki needs is a better Nigeria, better infrastructures, free education, development of rural areas.

In as much as i congratulate AKI for the award, i still can't remember any outstanding impact by him the nollywood to attract such an accolade. He is amongd least i expected to be in this shoe. If its based on acting i think Pawpaw is much better than he is so i still wonder!! or does he have any1 in Aso rock?

So when does getting a National Award in Nigeria become a thing of honour. A list of awardees that includes PATRICIA ETTEH - (Erstwhile Speaker of the House of Representative who was impeached for FRAUD RELATED issues) is not worth celebrating. I'm even amazed that she took the award. THE SHAME OF A NATION!

Aki congrat, but how i wish paw-paw is included it will be more better. But paw-paw, they say if breadfruit reach it's time it will fall. Don't worry your turn will reach and it may be something that is better than Nigeria Award.

well i think aki deserve it more pawpaw as youi all know aki started acting far before pawpaw did n he's also more matured in acting than pawpaw.you can even consider why some veteran actors names were not mention what r they doimg about that?leave my AKI alone!!!

I don't know why Nigeria is always interested in the unhappiness of a growing group, why should the government decided to bring about discrimination between these experts, they both deserve it, but thanks to Paw Paw (Osita) who played maturity to our funny government by not even reacting. President Jonathan , stop spending funds in irrelevant things ohhh. Nigeria universities produces millions of graduates every year without hope of securing jobs for us. This funds should be used to build different organisations all over the states for the unemployed to be employed. Stop this National awards and crack your head for job opportunities,24hrs Of Power supply and better lives for the masses .

It's a positive thing for the government to appraise Nollywood actors, actresses, directors etc; it is that recognition that the industry needs to boost more employments within the sector.
Personally I applaud the federal government for the gesture but they could have done better by giving the awards to duo, so as not to drive a wedge between the two comics, thereby creating room for Paw Paw to look inferior to his counterpart.
I know that this event will eventually make Paw Paw psycologically stronger as long as he keeps believing in his capabilities.

i think Aki deserves it. they might be acting thesame movie,but it does not mean that they are thesame and need to take thesame award. they have seen him as good in the parts in which he played and he is better than paw- paw
