Following the suit that was filed against some principal officers of the Senate by the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami,the Legislature has described the act a s a coup against the Legislature.

Adding that the Executive arm of the government has the intention of bringing the National Assembly under its control.

The Senate also said that the reason the executive filed the case was to make sure that the Senate President Bukola Saraki and his deputy, Ike Ekweremadu are put behind bars thereby preventing them from presidng over the affairs of the Senate.

The Chairman, Senate Committee on Media and Public Affairs, Senator Sabi Abdullahi who made a statement said the forgery was unconstitutional and a violation of the principles of separation of powers, checks and balances.

He furthered the country can be in a state of anarchy if the executive continue with the prosecution of these principal officers .He implored President Mohammadu Buhari to advise Malami accordingly.

The forgery case were against the following principal people: Saraki, Ekweremadu, the immediate past Clerk of the National Assembly, Alhaji Salisu Maikasuwa, and the Clerk of the Senate, Mr. Ben Efeturi, at an Abuja Federal High Court.
