The Department of State Services (DSS) has freed Dada Ifasooto who was arrested for allegedly preparing charms for the Yoruba Nation agitator Sunday Adeyemo aka Sunday Igboho.

One of Sunday Igboho’s lawyers Pelumi Olajengbesi confirmed this in a statement on Friday.

Mr Ifasooto’s release comes about six months after he was seized on July 16, 2021, weeks after the secret police invaded Sunday Igboho’s Ibadan residence.

“This is to announce the release of Mr. Dada Ifasooto who was secretly arrested by the State Security Service (SSS) on 16th July, 2021 on the allegation that he is a native doctor who prepares charms for Chief Sunday Igboho,” said Mr Olajengbesi.

“Mr. Dada Ifasooto’s whereabouts was unknown for months until one of the released detainees from SSS custody informed our office that he is in the custody of the Secret Service in an underground cell.”

Olajengbesi said the allegations against Ifasooto and his incarceration defies logic.

“Amongst other things, it exposes the straw-clutching antics of the State Security Service in this matter even as it underscores the ridiculous and unlawful length the agency is willing to go,” he added.

Sunday Igboho, meanwhile, is still in the custody of Benin Republic following his arrest on travel-related charges.

The Yoruba Nation agitator was apprehended while trying to catch a Germany-bound flight.
