Austin ‘Jay Jay’ Okocha is begging John Obi Mikel to seek a transfer from Premier League giants Chelsea once the January window opens.

This advice was prompted by Mikel’s continued isolation at Stamford Bridge this season as Chelsea sit comfortable atop the Premier League.

Mikel has been left in the cold by manager Antonio Conte following his participation in the summer Olympics in Rio, sparking rumours that his days at West London may be over. And Jay Jay Okocha, who lit up the Premier League at the turn of the millennium with Bolton Wanderers, believes it’s time the Super Eagles skipper sought a new challenge elsewhere.

“In my personal view I think he must seek a new challenge elsewhere so he can enjoy his football,” he said “What he is going through at the moment is the worst thing that could happen to a player and I urge him to move on.”

French Ligue 1 giants Olympique Marseille have been heavily linked with the Nigerian, with insiders claiming they are ready to break the bank in January to secure his services thanks to money made available by new owner Frank McCourt.

Chinese Super League outfit Shanghai SIPG are also interested in putting Mikel out of his Blues misery with a whopping €170,000 per week salary.
