A man who is reported to be named ThankGod Eruagah from port Harcourt almost got his childhood friend killed in computer village in ikeja lagos.

The later who blamed the act on the current economy crisis duped his friend Vitalis Darlinton of a sum of N2.4 million.

This all started in Port Harcourt were the two friends reside, the suspect tricked his victim and brought him to Lagos and set him up in computer village.

Vitalis had told ThankGod that he has gathered a large sum of money to enable him travel overseas to go look for a better life. When the suspect knew that his friend have such amount of money he laid out plans on how to extort the money from his friend.

He told him he could help him acquire his travel documents and ticket which he did but it was all forged documents after he had collected all the money.

When they had gotten to Lagos ThankGod got an accommodation at Iyana Ipaja where they lodged. He took him to computer village today to buy a phone worth N100, 000 so his friend will use in traveling tomorrow.

He told the seller of the phone that he wants to take the phone along with him to go and withdraw money, and that his friend will wait behind till he comes back. He revealed this to the police after his arrest.

Before then, Darlington has been rounded up in the market as a criminal and was about to be murdered after they had waited for ThankGod to no avail.

However, the victim was lucky as the police used ThankGod’s phone to call him. The victim picked the call and narrated the story to the police, what ThankGod had done and that his life was in danger at the Computer Village.

The police then rushed down to Ikeja, rescued and brought him to the police station with the owner of shop, where the phone was recovered and given back to the owner.

During the interrogation, ThankGod confessed that he procured fake papers and as such the victim cannot travel abroad with the documents.

He was charged before Ejigbo Magistrates court for stealing the phone and for defrauding his friend.

He pleaded not guilty.

The Presiding Magistrate, Mr. F.J. Layeni granted ThankGod bail in the sum of N300, 000 with two sureties in like sum.

He was remanded in prison custody pending when he will perfect his bail condition.

The matter has been adjourned till 28 February, 2018.

So don’t trust your friend too much, for too much can be very dangerous.
