Assin Fosu women from the Central region of Ghana have urged the Ghanaian president, Nana Akufo-Addo to release male prisoners to them for marriage.

The plea by the Assin Fosu women comes following the decline in number of males in the community which has made many unmarried despite pressures from their families.

The women revealed this in an interview with Adom News where they pled for leniency in order to meet the deadline set by their families for marriage.

The declining number of young men in the community has also led to the increase in extra-marital affairs between the single women and married men in the central region of the country.

The single mothers in the community however decried the decline in number of men able to meet up with the demands of their status due to the increased number of women available in the area.

The women during the interview said: “The men in the prison are more than the men in our town so please release them for us.

“we will enjoy with them and have a nice family together and so we beg Nana Addo to pardon the prisoners in our region because our town is dying.”
