Veteran Nollywood actress, Shan George who reacted to the marriage between a 70-year-old man and a 15-year-old girl in Niger State, stated that she detests any religion or tradition that supports child marriage.
Shan George who stated that child marriage subjects the child to ‘eternal emotional, psychological and physical torture’, added that the stone age practice should be stopped.
The screen star wrote;
“My heart can’t stop bleeding since I saw this wedding pix yesterday, I Detest any Man, Woman, Religion, Govt, Tradition or Anything under the Earth that would put a child like this under this kind of Eternal Emotional, Psychological and Physical Torture in d name of Marriage. If this used to be ok during the Stone Age for whatever reason, Now is the time to stop this HORROR. Poor child, I can’t deal, I’m traumatized.
This is coming after several news outlets reported that the man identified as Yakubu Chanji, tied the knot with the teenager at a wedding that took place on Monday in Lapai, Niger State, with family and friends in attendance.
Mr. Chanji, also known as Nafsi-Nafsi in Minna city, earned the sobriquet “Chanji” for his frequent divorces and replacement of wives.
“He is a philanthropist in Kwangila area of Minna. He has contributed immensely to the community, especially the building of the State.
