The Rivers government is set to immortalise the late literary icon, Elechi Amadi according to Mr Frank Owhor, the Chairman of the committee set up for the burial of Elechi.  Owhor is the former Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice in the state.

We can bring to your remembrance that Elechi died on June 29 at the age of 82 and would be immortalised by the state government on Dec. 3.

The chairman also said that the committee had lined up a one-week programme of events to honour Amadi.“The burial activities will last for one week, beginning from Nov. 28 to Dec. 4, with the reading of his works on Nov. 17, quiz competition on Nov. 23 and Literary Day on Nov. 30, among others,’’ he said.

“We are using this opportunity to invite the public to all the activities lined up for the week as it will not only be an opportunity to savour Elechi Amadi’s works but also have a rare privilege to interact with other great names,” he said.
