The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has urged President Muhammadu Buhari to endeavor to see that every political party that will contest for the governorship election in Edo State has the same level playing ground.

Chief Tony Ikimi, an ex- minister of foreign affairs and a chieftain of the PDP said this on Monday during the campaign and presentation of the party’s flag to the governorship candidate of the party, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, in Benin.

“Mr. President, I only ask you for a level playing field so that the Edo people would determine who govern them and also to allow a popular candidate to emerge,” Ikimi said.

“With a level playing field, PDP would be victorious come September 10. During the 2012 governorship election, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu and I took governor Oshiomhole to former President Goodluck Jonathan, to beg for a level playing field, which Jonathan agreed. Oshiomhole won the contest not because he was brilliant, but because he was supported by Jonathan who provided a level playing field.”

Ize-Iyamu, who unveiled his running mate, John Yakubu, said they were passionate about development of Edo State.
