Gertha, a Haitian-American woman has been manipulated by an impostor in Nigeria and at the last count, she lost over $6000 Dollar. The fraudster who duped Gertha impersonated top Nigerian Nollywood actor, Desmond Elliot using Facebook and other online means to perpetuate the criminal act. In a phone conversation with Gertha from her base in America, she told Niyi Tabiti that “though I am not a Nigerian, I love Desmond Elliot acting skills in all the movies have watched and just wanted to know him personally until this fake one came along” Since December last year, i have been sending money to him because he said he needed to travel to the US and wanted a ticket. The guy who was posing as Desmond also asked for money because he had an accident. The total sum collected according to the woman total $6,000. It got to a point, she suspected that she was not talking to the real Desmond so he challenged the guy. She later got through to the reporter (Niyi Tabiti) who linked her up to the real actor, Desmond Elliot. The actor was shocked to the marrows of his bone when he heard about the episode on Monday 29 May 2010. He wondered why people would go to such extent to disparage his personality by obtaining money using false pretenses.

The company insisted that I use the shipping company: West African Shipping Company. The shipping company insists in using a wire transfer for shipping while the people that were attempting to purchase the amulets with a credit card. The postage I was to spend shipping a four pound box was nearly $3000, more than the cost of the jewelry. The shipping company raised the amount they first quoted me, a difference of well over $400. This was after I had requested an itemized list of expenses (shipping, taxes, tariffs etc). I was attempting to find a different shipper when I decided to contact our government and inquire about the cost of these extra fees. All of the estimates were way off the West African Shipping Company. According to the government of Ghana: The shipping Company is not registered with the government as real (120 TEMA AVENUE, Accra, Ghana), the company placing the order is not real and the address does not exist. ** I started to get red flagged when the girl whom I met on e-Harmony (dating site) fell totaly in love with me after only 3 days, asking money for her mother for food and to pay for the internet funds and send it through western union. The world is full of wicked people. You just need to be careful with who you make friends with especially on the internet. I believe Desmond Elliot is an innocent man who probably doesn't even have an account on facebook, infact most nollywood celebrities are not on facebook for security reasons. As for the woman who donated money to the impersonator, I'd say she must have been out of her mind sending money to a "celebrity" she'd met on the internet, warnings of different types of scammers have always been there. Only a f**l would fall prey to an internet scam in this day and age.

BEWARE OF GHANAIANS ! Another set of hardened GHANAIAN FRAUDSTERS duping people on the internet . ** I was contacted by HUENFELD SUPPLY CO who wished to purchase jewelry from me, 100 copies. The company insisted that I use the shipping company: West African Shipping Company. The shipping company insists in using a wire transfer for shipping while the people that were attempting to purchase the amulets with a credit card. The postage I was to spend shipping a four pound box was nearly $3000, more than the cost of the jewelry. The shipping company raised the amount they first quoted me, a difference of well over $400. This was after I had requested an itemized list of expenses (shipping, taxes, tariffs etc). I was attempting to find a different shipper when I decided to contact our government and inquire about the cost of these extra fees. All of the estimates were way off the West African Shipping Company. According to the government of Ghana: The shipping Company is not registered with the government as real (120 TEMA AVENUE, Accra, Ghana), the company placing the order is not real and the address does not exist. ** I started to get red flagged when the girl whom I met on e-Harmony (dating site) fell totaly in love with me after only 3 days, asking money for her mother for food and to pay for the internet funds and send it through western union. I went on a hawaii model site to find out that the picture was taken from there. When I finished contacting the other party telling them that I found their SCAM. She told me she had put her picture on a model site, yeah, no money for food and internet, but to be on a model site??? Be extremly careful!!!! I almost got into this scam.
