I get truly upset when I hear my sisters and brothers in Nigeria say that they taught GhanaianS how to make movies. I am here to present certain facts. Nigeria did not teach Ghana how to make movies. That is a big bold historical lie. one of the first Ghanaian movies I watched was Hamile, the Ghanaian version of Hamlet (the Shakespeare play) directed by Terry Bishop and produced by the them Ghana Film Industry Corporation, now called GAMA Films. That movie was made in 1964. The came Kwaw Ansah and his film Africa, shooting on film, high end movies like heritage Africa, Love Brewed in African pots to name a few. This was in 1981-1989. The film industry began to flourish especially in 1990-1998. below is the link to a book called Fontomfrom, which lists all the Ghana films of the 1990s. A list of titles I can easily remember here and I will list at least 50 before I end this article: Meba (my child) Baby Thief shoe shine boy lovers blues diabolo man mama mia italiano a heart of Gold I want her blood Kukurantumi, the road to accra false pretender, for better for worse zenabu (horror) morbor cult of Alala harvest at 17 twisted fate confessions the haunted House supreme force abaddon (horror) Abrantie Ghost tears Step dad (me yari, maabo dam) All for you betrayal Avengers Beyond suspicion bride of death for better for worse Fatal Decision Indecent favor house of pain I surrender jealousy the lost stool Mataa, Our missing children. ( i still sing that song!) Lovin you matters of the heart A mothers revenge matters of the heart dza gbele (till death) my sweety never again nkrabea not without no one knows Noise of Silence Out of sight out of love playboy the reward for effect lt me add another 10 rejected sarah the returnee twin lovers when the going gets tough when the heart decides whose fault? Zena who killed nancy one flesh whew. memories. So many memories from recollecting these titles. Pay attention to the titles. Real, beautiful, attractive titles. I will tell you how the Ghana industry collapsed. The Nigerian industry did not start making movies until late 1960, Ola Balogun and co, but they did not succeed. Not until 1980s did a proper broadcasting network grow wings in Nigeria. Then kenneth Nnebue broke records by making and releasing Living in Bondage in 1992!! before the Nigerian film industry properly started. Nigerians are businessmen. When they grew confident in their filmmaking, the next thing was to broadened their market. Ghana was making successful movies so why not Ghana? In 1998, they arrived in Ghana. One of the first movies we saw then was When The Sun Sets. A very compelling story. More fashionable, more daring. different. I must also say, about 60% better acting. A very bad trait in Ghana is the chase after new things. Ghana people are very quick to forget the old and run after the new. Shun van Vicker for Majid, shun Majd for John Dumelo. Look at Nigeria. Tonto Dike, Ini edo, Monalisa chinda, Uche Jombo have nothing on Genevieve Nnaji, Stella Damascus, Kate Henshaw or Omotola. The later women will always outsell the former. No question about that. This does not apply in Ghana. so when the Nigerian films came flaunting the sexy Omotola and Liz Benson, things shifted. We run after the Nigerian movies. The taste for Ghana made was lost. The Nigerians started to import the Pascaline Edwards and Kwame Owusu Ansahs into Nigeria. After that, Zack Orji moved to Ghana to make The Web. Our doom was sealed. Soon, Ghana producers and other class actors by 2000 started to take the back seat. The Nigerians come with their own crew and their own cast. No market or even money to make Movies anymore. People like Socrates Safo who are determined started to make ultra low budget films. A far cry from his mega hit movie of the 1990s Ghost Tears or even step-dad, which till today has earned a fashion style for hair called maa bodam. (large rasta braids). Suddenly, he could only make Hot Fork and sex sex movies to grab the market attention again. No one is listening though. Frank Rajah is fooling them all with his useless crap. Any way. Venus films has to be thanked for resurrecting the industry in 2002. Single handedly, he managed to infuse Ghana Nigeria talent and then moved on to purely Ghana talent. by 2005, some independent filmmakers began to emerge. Ghana syndrome. We like new things. We started to pay attention to our movies again. Then comes Shirley Frimpong Manso Emmanuel Appea and Leila Djansi. Once again, we have arrived. We like new things. Shirley brings new faces, John Appea brings new stories and Leila Djansi brings high budget, white people and Hollywood stars. We like new things. Its sad the old actors have been washed away. Sandrah Nortey, Irene Opare, Akofa Asiedu, Fred Amugi, no one uses them anymore. No one wants to watch them. Did I say we like new things? That explains the ridiculous fashion gimmick Frank Rajah throws at us and we swallow hook line and sinker. Nigeria should stop licking its wounds. They destroyed the Ghana film industry, now, we are taking it back. What we need to do is look for a unified body. Form an actors and producers guild that bridges national gaps and work as a united front and make good films. Both nations have great potential! Stop behaving like teenagers. (although you are). PSI to those who are saying Nollywood created the world recognition. let me also educate you that, Werner Herzog was making movies in ghana and with other germans in the 80s. What created world recognition for nollywood is the fact that, there was no longer any competition around the 2000s and that was the time the world became a global village with internet, cell phones and importing local films into the diaspora.

Nigerians have been acting movies for long, but there was no any recognisable Aafrican movie culture that was recognised across tyhe globe to showcase African culture until nollywood came on board in 1992. Thats why white people never believed that Africans live in houses, drive cars , wear clothes etc until the advent of nollywood. Nollywood movies became avenues for white people to know about Africa. Most Africans who engaged white whites in one thing or the other like marriage relied on nollywood to explain their background and culture. All this history was rewritten by nollywood and when other Africans like ghna saw it, they started copying everything nollywood has done and started releasing movies and no one new about their movies untill they started inviting nollywood actors and actresses to joint feature in their movies to give them exposure and recognition. Having learnt then they made BEYONCE which was the first movie made in ghan that was recognised outside ghana. So if u wanna make argument, source your information coherently and logically and dont come here to make f*****h comparison between father and son. Its very dumb of u especially u r Nigerian as u claim u r. Shame on u.
IgboQueen | 8/17/2010 2:26:52 AM |
you are right. the funnier thing is like you said "they copied Nollywood" and you are exactly right. have you seen the movie called "Victim of Love" with Ramsey Noah, Sandra Achums, Maureen Silva, etc...? thats where they copied Beyonce from. When watching the movie Beyonce, i was appalled!!! i couldn't believe what i was seeing, not only that, but some of the lines in the movie were the EXACT SAME! i remember one line that stood out to me the most when Jackie said "Thank God you arrived at the peak of it all" as soon as she said that, i was 1000000% sure it was copied. they were leeching off of Nollywood trying to gain popularity and that movie alone proves it.
Adwoa | 8/18/2010 6:25:01 PM |
Beyonce was made by Venus Film Abdul Salam Mumuni, and you must know that when it comes to copieing movies he is the master at it. Abdul Salam Mumuni always copies movies from Nigerians, Indians, and Hollywood. Here are a list of movies he has copied.....Unbreakable Affiar (nollywood) Royal Battle (ghollywood) Only For Love (nollywood) Her Excellency (ghollywood) Heavy Rain (nollywood). The list goes on and on.
Kelly | 8/19/2010 12:47:33 AM |
Ghana has always been known for their copycat nature. Tons of their movies have been copied word-for-word, scene-for-scene from Nollywood, Bollywood and Holywood. What point is this Joy trying to make ? Is she trying to trigger preposterous argument ? Obviously, she doesn't have the facts. I advise you to do more research.
EML | 8/19/2010 9:32:41 AM |
If Ghanaians are copying from Nolly-,Bolly-,Hollywoods , what are these film industries doing about it?Did Nigeria not copy COMING BACK TO AMERICA from Hollywood in WORLD APART ?We Nigerians also copy from our own producers , thereby changing titles but film content same !WE SHOULD REPAIR OUR HOME b4 we attack others!
IgboQueen | 8/19/2010 8:18:48 PM |
first of all, do we ever copy word for word? no! second of all, most times if we do copy, we put an African/Nigerian twist to the story, so it can relate to the audience. we dont just copy blindly. and how many Nigerian movies have been copies anyway? and how many from the latter? please!
Gabby Nash | 8/24/2010 9:25:29 PM |
Well, this writer has virtually emptied my thought and had produced what was taking me days to research. Gee! how I've missed some of these movies she has listed. We are the pacesetters. No two ways about it!1 Need i say more??

lol i wasnt born then so i will keep quiet.abt the movies made in the 80's All these facts makes you Nigerians know we started acting b4 you guys came oo. Is just that we stood low for yall and now we getting back on our feet and is like a pain in the butt for yall. Dont worry if you guys say we copy and paste movies.. Its okay ayt we understand. We will stop and make geniune movies.
SEAN | 8/17/2010 2:35:12 AM |
how much did ghanains pay u for this or are u just seeeking cheap publicity. This is like comparing USA and CANADA, there is no basis for comaprison at all. One copies everything ther other does. One relies on the other for international recognition, exposure and style. And relies on the other to validate her cultuire and way of life and to project it to the oustide world. Its like comparing father and son, there is no basis for that. Of course ghan just like Nigeeria has been producing local drama, soaps or maybe movie as u claim, but non of that has been recognised beyond the dhores of ACCRA. Not until theyy satrted watching Nigeri movies and their population got addicted to it, then they realise that they could join by copying nollywood. First they strated inviying nollywood actors and ctreses to come and feature in their movies to give it international recognition and from their they started copying. Havent learnt the tarde from nollywood practictioners, they they started their onw, and they never gained attention until when they produced BEYONCE which is the firts ghan made movie that ever got international recognition like nollywood. Even Nigerians have been acting movies for decades until nollywood went commercial and caught fire through Nigerians in diaspora like me.
stella | 9/21/2010 6:05:02 AM |
d same frank rajah dt gave their industry international recognition via beyounce is a NIGERIAN DIRECTOR. we all knew when he started no wonder there was a period when Nigeria declared GHANA MUST GO which invented that sack. they have always been "IRISH DOGS" that bites the fingers that fed them. sometimes it suits nigeria right cuz we have to learn to protect and appreciate our own. what else has so called "GOLLYWOOD" brought to the scene recently.... NUDITY...gollywood indeed!!!

If you saw a dirty , hungry beggar and his children sleeping on the street , cold , tattered and homeless , you would feel sorry for them and could decide to help them ! Some people are so kind hearted that they have even brought such homeless beggars into their homes ; given them a warm bath , clothe and fed them and gave them a room to sleep in their house, free of charge . Usually , trouble would start when you realise you have made a fatal mistake by bringing tramps into your home and then you ask them to leave ! In most cases , such tramps would turn very nasty and vengeful and turn on you , to harm you , your children and your entire home! Nigeria took pity on ungrateful tramps called Ghanaians and invited them to sit on her high table to dine with Nigeria and her children. But Ghanaians have turn nasty! They are now trying to hold our hands and saying Nigeria and her children must eat ONLY AFTER they have had their fill on Nigeria's dining table ! Ha ! ha! Ha! Hear the ungrateful tramps , “ It's a lie! Afterall what did Nigeria ever do for Ghana? This is Ghana's dining table , Nigerians are the tramps and We brought you out of the gutter to sit here with us! We cooked the food on this table and we are the ones feeding you , Nigerians !” What do you do to such ungrateful tramps ? Do you discuss , bargain , plead or negotiate with them ? NIGERIANS , NO , NO , NO ! If you deceive me once , SHAME on you ; but if I allow you to deceive me twice , SHAME on me! We MUST UPROOT every trace of UNGRATEFUL TRAMPS called Ghanaians and KICK THEM OUT ! Out of Nigeria and out of our individual lives

I wish people will just be mature and ignore this unnecessary fight.Ghana or Nigeria, whoever started the movie first is not important this time. The market needs each other. Nigeria has the population and talents, which is what the industry needs, Ghana happens to have a smaller market, but equally talented. Ghana and Nigeria have forged a good regional political alliance for decades. Why all these fight about nothing. If we should analyse the art of film making, it did not start in US. But because of certain advantages, they happens to be on top. But did not happen by US effort alone as all the "who is who"in film that wants to reach greater heights wants to go there. We all need each other in this sector, but as long as we continue to fight, we cannot forge alliance in this field.

Joy certainly lacks what to say. This is complete nonsense. Scrab, i must say. The article makes no sense at all and i wonder what she is driving at. Take it or leave Ghana is not a match for Nigeria. Why dont people just let this matter die down? Just looking for trouble where there is none. I am fed up with this Ghana and Nigeria struggle. Can a cat fight and elephant? Wha is the population of Ghana and what is that of Nigeria? How many stars can we reckon with from Ghana? How many do we have in Nigeria. This is just gabbage.
Ray fierce | 8/17/2010 4:19:31 PM |
She is ignorant, and i must say very dumb to think she knows not only the history of her own country's film industry but another country's. All what you said is complete garbage, who knew bout any film industry in Ghana in the 90's less of 80's? All the films you recounted am sure some people in Ghana don't even know( not even africa this time) and what facts do u have huh? Your so called rejuvenated late 2000 movies are mostly crap acting except for few ones which are still soap opera-ish. The home video only started in 1992 because we had cinema houses where people love to go and watch movies. When the cinema was taken over by home videos, it became the platform to international recognition. I repeat 2, 3 or 4 good movies dont make an industry, you guys should get your life sorted mschew.... Ghanians are chauvinistic people and as black as they are so is their brain, if not whats the fuss about 'we are better than you' syndrome lately when you should concentrate on fixing your half baked industry and let your work speak for itself. I blame Nigerians who loves to associate with people alot. FAMILIARITY BREEDS DISRESPECT.....ITS TIME TO PUT THIS JOBLESS, EVIL PEOPLE IN THE BACKSEAT. They only want to distract Nollywood.

Ugo what ever you say is in your pocket!! Even more Decent Nigerians respect and recognise Ghana not poor f**ls like you who had never quit his remote village to explore the world and see things! you are dreaming that your Naija is the end of the world! source;peacefmonline.com "Likable, Nollywood beauty Stella Damasus, who graced the studios of Peace FM with her beauty for a surprise interview on “Entertainment Review”, has openly declared Ghana as her favourite holiday spot in the world. The screen goddess who is currently in Ghana on a two week holiday said she will rather spend her quiet times and holidays in Ghana, than to travel to London. “I love Ghana so much, this is my favorite holiday spot because everything that I am looking for out there, I find it here”, the actress stated. Asked what it is about Ghana that makes it a favourite place to relax, Stella said “I think it's the peace that I get here and the peace of mind. I like the tourist sites, I go to Aburi Gardens and other nice places in Ghana, they are so, so nice. I like the people as well; I have made a lot of friends here. They are very warm and friendly people”. Stella disclosed that she's been coming to Ghana back and forth for holidays over the past eleven to twelve year now. She said, Ghana is more relaxing compared to other countries she has been to. “I feel very relaxed, and because it not so far from Nigeria, our cultures are not too different, so it is easy for me to blend in, to just relax and get away from all the hustle and bustle in Lagos”. The “Widow” actress wondered why Ghanaians have abandoned such a historic and natural asset like Aburi Gardens and other historic sites in Ghana, which can generate billions into the county's economy. “I think Ghanaians are wasting their great tourist sites, because there are so many beautiful tourist sites in Ghana, which should attract a lot of people coming in to pay and have fun. In fact Hollywood should be paying Ghana millions to use Aburi Gardens as a location. It's beautiful, the land mark is so nice and there is a history behind it”. The charming mother of two, called on authorities in Ghana who are in-charge of tourism, to develop Aburi Gardens and market it to the world. “I think Ghanaians should utilize the place, turn it into a story and make it big, let the whole world see what you have. I love to come here I would rather be in Ghana than be in London”, Stella stated Stella Damasus, born on April 24, 1978 is a Nigerian actress and singer. Damasus was born Stella Ojukwu in Asaba, Delta State. She grew up in Benin City where she completed most of her primary education. She first appeared in the Nigerian film "Abused" in 1992. She has starred in over 50 movies including: Betrayed by Love, Face of a Liar, Real Love, Passions, Never say goodbye, Dangerous Desire, Missing Angel, Engagement Night, Widow, Yankee Girls, The Bridesmaid among others. Nigerians , God's own people, have you forgotten how to war against the Devils and his agents? Ghanaians are devils who come into our midst , every where they see Nigerians to steal and to kill and to destroy! Wherever you see them ; whether in NFC , in Nigeria , in Ghana , overseas , release the HolyGhost fire and the Blood of Jesus on Ghanaians! Nigeria is God's OWN Country AND the Apple of God's Eye! Satan and his children , Ghanaians are unhappy about Nigeria and they accuse us day and night! Worldwide , Ghanaians are the ACCUSERS OF OUR NIGERIAN BRETHREN and what does the Bible say about our accusers ? That we overcome Ghanaians by the blood of Jesus and by the word of our testimony! Revelation 12:10,11. Stop exchanging words with hardened devils called Ghanaians ! They are not worth it and the correct answer for devils is HOLY GHOST FIRE! Any where you see Ghanaians accusing Nigerians here on NFC or elsewhere OVERCOME THEM by these words : “We plead the blood of Jesus and the Holy Ghost Fire ! We Kick out the devil ! Ghana devil , Ghana liar , KICK OUT THE DEVIL ! Ghana devil, Ghana copy-copy , Ghana thief-thief ! We kick out the devil ! Ghana devil , Ghana liar ! We kick out the devil ! Shame unto Ghana , shame unto Satan ! We kick out the devil ! In the name of Jesus Christ ! Amen!

"Nigeria should stop licking its wounds. They destroyed the Ghana film industry, now, we are taking it back. " hahahahaha! and no one believed me when i said Ghanaians love to blame EVERYTHING wrong on Nigerians. did Nigerians put a gun to their head and tell them to stop making movies? they stopped making movies on their own free will. nobody forced them to stop. they fell and Nollywood rose to the top, now they are envious and want to come back. LOLOL secondly....they didn't revive their industry on their own. they knew that their audience switched its attention to Nollywood, and by using Nollywood to indirectly re-advertise their own industry. from the early 2000s, many Ghanaian movies starred Nigerians, marketed and distributed by Nigerians, etc. as far as I'm concerned, Nollywood has been around just as long. its only in 1992 that movies became mass produced and you could actually WALK INTO A STORE AND PURCHASE THEM. but they've been around since the 80s and Pete Edochie and Clarion Chukwura are some of our REAL veterans.

feel very sorry for those f*****h Nigerians who are insane enough to think that “Ghanaians are our friends ; we are all the same; we should UNITE with them !” This is r*****h talk and very far from the truth! As far as I am concerned , I am NOT a f**l and a b*****d Nigerian ! So , I am NOT a friend of Ghanaians and I know millions of Nigerians feel the same way. While Nigerians were “dozing away” in dreamland; embracing Ghanaians and being nice to them as our “African brothers” ; Ghanaians were very busy and active spreading bad news and HATRED AGAINST NIGERIANS ; especially against Nigerians in diaspora! Ask any Nigerian living in Europe , the UK , USA , Canada , S. America and other countries in Africa ; Nigerians will confirm that wherever Ghanaians see Nigerians , they would start spreading evil rumours against us! Out of their ENVY and INFERIORITY COMPLEX ! I live in London and majority of Nigerians have learnt , the hard way, to beware of Ghanaians ! Whether you are Nigerian working in the same office with Ghanaians , in the same line of business , in the same school , even in the same church ,or in the same neighbourhood ; here in the UK , wise Nigerians give Ghanains a wide gap! Ghanaians know that THEY CANNOT COMPETE WITH AND DEFEAT NIGERIANS so their NATIONAL POLICY is: “ if you cannot compete with Nigerians , r*****h and destroy them and their achievements with your mouth !” This is what Ghanaians have been doing for a long time , everywhere ; long before Nigerians realised their evil attack! So I am not surprised at the amount of virtriol from Ghanaians here on NF.COM ! The present HATRED between the two countries was started by Ghanaians and Nigerians are , JUST STARTING now to reacting accordingly to Ghana's hatred and antagonism . This hatred will continue to escalate to even greater dimensions than anyone can imagine. Ghanaians have even the AUDACITY to bring their hatred for Nigerians into Nollywood , Nigerian's film industry , ON NIGERIAN SOIL ! What Ghanaians have tried and FAILED to do in Nollywood is an act of BLATANT HATRED for Nigerians ! Ghana's decision to bribe Nigerian film producers with 1 million naira to UNDERMINE and pull down Nollywood is an ACT OF WAR against Nigeria ! Also it is an insult to those greedy and shameless Nollywood producers , directors , actors and actresses who have continued to have any dealings with Ghanaians! They should bow their heads in shame ! Nigerians should boycott any such films produced with Ghanaians !

responding to what the writer of this article wrote, nobody said that movies and plays and dramas where not done during the time of Ola Rotimi,Hubert Ogunde,Kwesi Brew and the rest of them, Nigeria may not teach Ghana how to act nor how to make movies, But the obvious fact here is that Nigeria created the international recognition, when nigerians came with the home video, that was when african culture became relevant, internationally we were neglected, and efrica was only known and remembered as dark continent filled with poverty and diseases. But nigerians brought out african culture, tradition, values and sold it to the international scene, now they know that there are good things that exist in africa. On the part of Ghana, we helped develop their stars, gave them the recognition, because before now what people knew was only nigerian movie industry, ghana movie industry may have been existing then, but nigeria created the market, recognition,at least africans can now be called on the the international scene, the likes of Genevieve, van etc, there's no need for all these battle of supremacy, it's just childish, just whaever you do,do it right.coperate and move africa foward.

there are factors that made the world a global village, it didn't just became a global village by people sitting down in their villages and not doing something.

Joy certainly needs some education. The information you find on the internet wont be there if someone doesnt put it. If Kenneth Okonkwo and co didnt come up with Living in Bondage, i am sure by now Africans will still be buying Indian and chinese films. Living in Bondage was an igbo film that stimilated the mind and brains of many. It was an eye openner. Africans now knew they could make their own movies and tell the world that they have a life, a culture and a history. The birth of Living n Bondage was a turning point in the entertainment industry of Nigeria. Soon others like Ghana copied.

One thing sure, you Igbo-whatever been on every topic and every page 247 on this site shows you're NOT even 18. You are younger. You don't have a sense of balance, you are not old enough to hold a job having all of that time to burn here, so you stay on this forum all the time. There's no topic or page here ever you don't have things to say. You talk loud and say nothing. You must definitely have affinity for fights. Let me tell you about forums. It's more or less a debate where people discuss to learn from each other. These topics coming on just give us a recipe for such discussion. It's not like coming out and coursing people out all the time, every once in a while argument gets out of hands, but should not be all the times. A lot of mature people make friends on online forums. Your EMOTION shows that of 11 or 12 years of age, but if you claim to be older, that's all we see through the mirror everytime you strike. Then the fact that you can't go past the so called Pigin English means you have not been schooled long enough to know how to hold dialogs. Then you keep insulting strangers you don't even know - which in Advanced Psychiatry makes you less than a Teen or adult whose brain did NOT grow. Evidently, been here is all you do, Nigeriafilms.com is all your life.
IgboQueen | 8/17/2010 3:04:38 AM |
say whatever you like. THATS THE BEAUTY OF BEING ANONYMOUS! I SAY WHAT I WANT NO ONE KNOWS ME. do you really think i act like this on a daily basis? anyway, my vacation is almost over, but i will still be here on the lookout. "It's more or less a debate where people discuss to learn from each other. These topics coming on just give us a recipe for such discussion. It's not like coming out and coursing people out all the time, every once in a while argument gets out of hands," "Then you keep insulting strangers you don't even know -" save that speech for your mama i don't attack, i defend. hypocrites that come here and insult my people for no reason will get it back 10 fold, and thats all i will tell you. this forum will be peaceful once those goats stop opening their mouth, because its like an automatic flex for me, because I TOO will open mine.
MANGO | 8/17/2010 11:58:01 PM |
You started so good I started to think you are matured after all .... Until I saw the last paragraph where you're going over people's head to get to their Mama. Wow, from a broken home, humnnnn? So raw.
IgboQueen | 8/18/2010 6:23:45 AM |

NOLLYWOOD IS STILL BIGGER AND WE WOULD DO BETTER AS SOON AS WE PUT OUR HEADS TOGETHER. THE GHANANS ARE THE ONES GAINING MUCH FROM NOLLYWOOD. THE BEST THING FOR GHANA TO DO IS TO BE AT PEACE WITH NIGERIA. OUR PRODUCERS SHOULD RE-INVENT NOLLYWOD BY DISCOVERING NEW TALENTS, COMPLEMENT THE OLDER ACTORS AND ACTRESSES WITH THE NEW ONES. WE WOULD NOT ONLY TAKE OVER THE MARKET BUT DICTATE THE PACE IN THE INDUSTRY.

In the history of 9ja, they are never wrong even when it's obvious..I wouldn't be surprise if it's written in their constitution.."constitution #20, the naija citizen it's always right regardless, we are never wrong" lol...what is this PRIDE thing about nigerians? what will happen if you accept facts? f**ck patriotism, the truth is always the truth. this is the problem I have with naijas. too Prideful, it's like y'all were taught how to be Prideful or something..the level of Prideness with nigerians really shock me sometimes..you see how you people are twisting what Joy wrote now? Do y'all now believe that y'all didn't teach as squat now that history has spoken? hmmm mo Pride di mu b3 duru 3kyiri(your pride will take you places) *shaking my damn head*

I really don't understand the big deal of this whole Ghana. Nigeria movie making argument. Weither Nigeria thought Ghana o or Nigeria did not teach Ghana, at the end of the day the viewers will not asked who thought or is teaching who. Since some poeple on this site want to go back in history, i say LETS GO! first of all African people did not have a voice in films making because they were controlled by their white Colonial masters. Which had and is still effecting Africa/Africans. Films made by the colonial masters painted Africa/Africans as people with no brains, bunch of animals etc. They created films units in those countries. The Francophone African countries were the first African countries to make films, percisely Senegal *La noire de* aka Black girl, which got international regonition. But counldn't keep it up after their colonial masters left. Ghana was the first Anglophone country to have film training institution, where some francophone countries studied films making. Films like Freedom for Ghana and Jaguar high life was made by Ghanaian trained films makers. Luckily after Independence in 1957 Ghana kept on making short films under the Nkume regine. Also when Nigeria's colonail masters left they too took adventage of what they learned and started making short films. Ghana and Nigeria were the only two anglophone countries who kept making films after they gain independence. Before any films making took place in Africa ,Africans were addicted to Bollywood films. Let just acknowlaged the fact that both Ghana and Nigeria are making Africa proud especially in films production. I know some will disagreed with me but i don't give a s**t abt what u think or say. And this whole who copied or is coping who, will all i can say is our everyday life as humans is copy-copy. I want to name some movies that were copied from Hollywood and Bollywood by both Nigeria and Ghana but i'm just gonna let it be.

Hello fellow forumites, i think its high time we learn, and get some sense of maturity, especially when we are replying ourselves in a forum like this. Let's not be too raw nor too vulgar in our responses, rather let's be speaking with some sence of modesty without insults. There is a way we can respond to ourselves politely, and the message will still be passed across without speaking like children, there by steering up quarrels. ONE LOVE, ONE NIGERIA.

Nigeria ranks second in lowest living condition By Paul Ohia with agency report, 08.17.2010 Tuesday, August 17, 2010 United States based Newsweek magazine has ranked living conditions in 100 countries around the world and in the magazine's analysis, Nigeria was judged to be second to the worst while Finland is the best. advertisement Cameroun is at the bottom of the ladder while Burkina Faso is a step ahead of Nigeria. The analysis examined factors such as education and health care, quality of life, economic dynamism, and political environment. Finishing after Finland were Switzerland and Sweden. The United States was in 11th place. The analysis of educational systems used factors such as the international PISA studies, as well as measures of efficiency and the educational level of the population at large. In this, Finland was in first place, followed by South Korea and Canada, which were in a tie. Finland's lowest marks were in health care, in which it came in 17th. The ranking was based on a World Health Organisation comparison examining how many years an average citizen could expect to live a full-blown life without being burdened by illness or disability. The top three were Japan, Switzerland and Sweden. A number of factors were considered in assessing quality of life. These included gender equality, the percentage of people living in poverty, the equality of wealth distribution, the suicide rate, the state of the environment, and the proportion of employed people in the population. In this, Finland was in fourth place, with Norway, Switzerland, and Luxembourg coming ahead. Economic dynamism was gauged on the basis of GDP growth, the proportion of services and industrial output in GDP, innovations, the ease with which new companies can reach the market, and the scope of the stock market. In this Finland was eighth, with Singapore, the USA and South Korea as the top three. The quality of the political was gauged through a comparison of democratic freedom, the proportion of citizens involved in elections, and political stability. Finland ranked fifth, trailing Sweden, Norway, The Netherlands, and New Zealand.

Hi EML, I think that what is being discussed on this page is the development of the movie industries in Nigeria and Ghana, with particular emphasis on the relative historical dependence between the two. Unless, of course, you want to derail the discussion, we are not, at the moment, concerned about the living conditions in Nigeria, or how those living conditions compare with those in other countries, as contained in Newsweek's analysis. Therefore, I can't see the relevance of the Newsweek's living conditions analysis, to the discussion here. And when you conclude that Nigeria should sit up, based on Nigeria's ranking in living conditions, I get the impression that you may not be aware that the information to be derived from those statistical rankings, are highly limited, given their method of computation. This, of course, is a technical issue that has no place for discussion on this forum.

Emeka b4 we condenm others, lets put our home inorder .See what our Nigerian brethrens are saying.Whether the topic at hand is on film or not, we lag behind in many facets of life. Some of the things we need to put inorder ,have direct and indirect impact on the film industry like electricity.Sometimes films have to be shot with gen .Does that make sense? Why must we condenm a fellow African country just because of of film?Have we protested the way Nigerians are treated in a place like Indonesia?Yet we complain of bad treatment in Ghana.Do we Nigerians love ourselves? We should put our country inorder b4 running down other countries. The statistics above are correct from field work, research and mere observation by the Nigerian citizens. Why can Ghana have constant light supply and we Nigerian noisemakers can´t? I HAVE SAID MY PIECE as Nigerian and straight forward person. I don´t care if some pple here will attack me -AM A PROUD NIGERIA BUT LET´S FACE FACTS , LETS LEARN AND TAKE CORRECTIONS WITH HUMILITY, WE CAN´T ALWAYS WIN .LONG LIVE NIGERIA! LONG LIVE GHANA !! you are one of those filthy people that believe EVERYTHING you hear. the majority of Nigerians live in villages, but does that technically mean they live in "slums" or whatever they wanna call it? I don't buy it because there are more than 100 countries worse off than Nigeria. and these are the same media outlets that once say Nigerians live in $1 a day, and the others are saying its $2 a day. so who is lying and who is telling the truth?

do you people really believe the birth of Nigeria's film industry has ANYTHING to do with Ghana? GOSH, WE ARE NOT EVEN THE SAME COUNTRY. our film industries were born around the same time. Nollywood needed NO HELP to spring off her industry and sweep across Africa. those people were only known locally and even their own citizens were watching Nollywood movies more than their own. DID ANYONE TELL THEM TO STOP PRODUCING MOVIES? OR DID THEY STOP ON THEIR OWN FREE WILL? thats when they came and used Nollywood to INDIRECTLY re-advertise their industry, since we had the market and audience. and YES population DOES matter. Nigeria has the bigger market, more people to patronize these products. NOBODY KNEW ABOUT THEM OUTSIDE OF GHANA. How many Ghanaians even knew about their own industry? LOL like i said before, it doesn't matter when you started, it just matters of what you have to show for it. ZILCH.

you don't know what you're talking about.. I'm NOT talking about quality or quantity. this has NOTHING to do with either. I'm talking about the people that BUY these movies. the BUYERS are part of the MARKET! DUH! so having more people that BUY these movies indicates a BIGGER market because you have MORE PEOPLE patronizing these products. DUUUUUUUUUH!!!! you dont even know what you're talking about. as far as quality and quantity, they are on the same level. Most of the movies BOTH industries spit out are garbage, and very few are up to the standard of Ije. you're the one who keeps feeling insecure that you feel the need to mention "big and small" all the time. WHO EVEN MENTIONED NIGERIA'S SIZE? IF NOT YOU? and the only thing the writer said is that the Ghanaian industry started in the 60s and most of us know that already. but where did they achieve international (meaning NON-LOCAL) fame? anyone can answer that question for you. so keep quiet.

WHAT YOU ARE TOTALLY SAYING IS BASELESS ,YOU MUST KNOW GHANAIN STARTED MOVIES BEFORE NIGERIANS START THEIR DRAMA,THAT'S WHAT YOU MUST KNOW FIRST ,BEFORE YOU WILL MAKE MENTION OF PEOPLE WHO ARE BUYING ITEMS ,WELL I SEE YOU ARE SO CONCERN ABOUT YOUR POPULATION THAT'S WHY YOU MENTION MANY PEOPLE PATRONIZING YOUR FILMS ,DON'T LET YOUR POPULATION EAT UP YOUR HEAD ,I AM SURE YOU ARE CONFUSE AND YOU SOUND LIKE A LITTLE GIRL OR YOU ARE ON YOUR MENOPAUSE ? THE WRITER IS TALKING ABOUT WHICH COUNTRY STARTED ACTING MOVIES FIRST AND YOU ARE RELYING ON YOUR POPULATION BY SAYING WHO PATRONIZE .I WILL STILL SAY WE NEED QUALITY NOT QUANTITY.ACCEPT DEFEAT AND FACT .WISE UP

you are just upset because you feel s****d and you didn't even know what you were talking about in the first place. you also made mention of quality and quantity and THAT TOO had nothing to do with what Joy said....so your point? you as well weren't "on topic" or do i need to quote you to refresh your memory? NOBODY WAS EVEN TALKING ABOUT NIGERIA'S SIZE IN THE FIRST PLACE. EVERY TIME YOU COMMENT YOU MENTION SIZE AND POPULATION. WHAT IS EATING YOU? ARE YOU JUST UPSET THAT YOU WILL NEVER REACH 150 MILLION PEOPLE?!?! WHO MENTIONED NIGERIA'S POPULATION? YOU OR ME? Nigeria has the bigger market, END OF STORY. you can cry and whine all you want to, but it changes nothing. the MORE PEOPLE you have patronizing these products THE BIGGER the market will be. DUH!!!! you have no idea what you're talking about. please sit down. if what I'm saying is baseless, come and debunk it. who cares who started the industry first when you have nothing to show for it. WHO CARES WHO STARTED WHAT FIRST. LOCAL CHAMPIONS. your industry was never known past the shores of Accra if not for Nollywood indirectly exposing your industry. If the fact that Nigeria's market is bigger is paining you, then cry yourself to sleep. and please tell me what defeat? who was even competing in the first place? WHO? you see why i say you people always feel small? everything is a competition with you guys, learn to back off and mind your own business. your industry is better, but thats also why you find all your actors all over Nollywood. if their industry is better, why don't they stay at home??? why constantly running to Nollywood to make money? abi Ghollywood doesn't pay enough? (Obviously) and i will ask you again, WHAT QUALITY MOVIES? Hot Fork? Kiss Me If You Can? Heart of Men? (Heart of Men was also copied from a Bollywood movie, lol) please name the quality movies, abeg, stop all this cheap talk.

NIGERIA CANT DO WITHOUT GHANA ,LET ME TELL YOU NIGERIANS CAN'T STOP USING GHAINAIN ACTORS AND ACTRESS IN THEIR MOVIES ,HOW MANY NIGERIANS ACT IN GHANAIN MOVIES NUN BECAUSE WE HAVE GOOD PRODUCTS ALREADY WE DON'T NEED ANY THING FROM NIGERIA SO KEEP ON USING OUR STARS IN YOUR MOVIES ,AND THANCKS FOR SAYING IT SOO NICE FOR ME ,OUR FACES SALE MORE THAN NIGERIAN FACES ,OUR STARS ARE NOW EVERY WHERE IN NIGERIA IN MAGAZINES NEWS ,TV ETC GHANA IS GREAT .NIGERIA CAN'T ACT MOVIES NOW WITHOUT SINGLE GHANAIN ,GHANA SALES HIGH ,AM SURE YOUR PRODUCERS SEE QUALITY IN OUR STARS ENOUGH.

trashy stella, what faces are you talking about? so your Ghana faces started selling our movies since living in bondage? well if that's why you all went and brought all the mixed kids in Ghana to boost your image we don't have to do that, we have a lot of them, we don't have to parade them to boost our movie industry. you are imitating and now diverted to doing p**n,because your movies don't have plots, settings nor storylines. it's just' king and queen ' and quoting of shakespear that's the only theme you have in your movies, oh God it's so boring and seeing the same people over and over again is annoying.so stop writing r*****h little miss Ghana.
IgboQueen | 8/19/2010 8:50:23 PM |
hahahaha that also reminds me, why does their industry prefer using half-caste than full Ghanaians? the only popular ones are John, Yvonne Nelson, and Jackie. there are more half caste ones than full blood Ghanaians. maybe because they all look like the girl in the upcoming "Sinking Sands" movie. bwahahahahahahahaha!
IgboQueen | 8/19/2010 2:16:13 AM |
thats what you Ghanaians keep saying to make yourselves feel better. i will repeat: IF GHOLLYWOOD WAS BETTER, THEY WOULD STOP GOING TO NOLLYWOOD TO DO MOVIES. after all, you people keep chanting "Ghana is ahead, they are better than Nigeria" if they are better, then why are your actors and actresses constantly in Nigeria making money? does Ghollywood not pay them enough? secondly, the only one that sells movies is Van Vicker and its because of his looks and nothing else. what is special about the other actors? yes Heart of Men was copied from Bollywood, although Bollywood didnt have sex scenes because the Indians have CLASS and actually value their culture. they dont go showing b**bs and ass all in the name of being "western" LOL hahahahahaha, you said none of our actors do Ghanaian movies? IF THAT IS SO, THEN WHY DID THEY IMPOSE A FEE ON OUR ACTORS IF THEY DON'T DO YOUR MOVIES ANYWAY? Mercy Johnson, Omotola, Tonto Dike, Rita Dominic have Ghanaian movies. AND IF YOU AREN'T BLIND, YOU WOULD SEE THAT YEMI BLAQ IS IN THE GHANAIAN MOVIE "SINKING SANDS". the picture is right here displayed in front of your very eyes. SELECTIVE BLINDNESS. lolol sheesh, it seems you don't even know your own industry but you are here saying something else. LMFAO. why then were they upset about the influx of Nigerian actors (hired by Ghanaians) do to Ghanaian movies than then led to the $1,000 fee? does that mean the Nigerian actors are better? they too had a problem with Nigerian actors, thats why they started making c***y fees. PLEASE GIVE THE NAMES OF NIGERIAN ACTORS WITH BAD ACCENT! I HAVE YET TO FIND A POPULAR NIGERIAN ACTOR WITH BAD SPEECH/ACCENT. I NEED NAMES PLEASE.

stella is suffering from the disease called ignorance, she just saw computer and felt she can use it to write nonsense, i'm not even sure she watches ghana movies, if not she should have known that in a play or movie or drama whatever name you give it, there should be the plot, setting, theme, climax, point of conflicts and etc, For example few Ghanaian movies i watched i never understood the plot even after the movie ended. sometimes there's no suspence at all, that's why i stopped watching Ghana movies, where is the african culture, the traditional dances, the traditional marriages, the village settings and our communual and extended family system ? that we should showcase in our movies. Not been too western and showing our nudity, thats irresponsible, nobody wants to see all that, promote our culture in your movies, portray our black girls, show the worl d that black is beautiful, show our remote african villages and culture it makes us happy, promote our african accent, we don't want to hear an african trying to play nor speak fake american or british accent ,he or she will sound ridiculous. I think that's what Nollywood is all about, African pure African. Our Nigerian producers use your stars to sell nigerian movies in Ghana, not for any other thing, it's purely business that's all.

my dear miss Ghana, please stop exposing your ignorance, first of all you and Joy the writer should ask your movie industry what their mission is first, you don't just dabble into something because others are doing it.if there's a healthy theory and criticism in that country i think it would be a lot better, nigerians accept criticisms that's why you see improvement, critics are there to correct you. stella is talking about accent, Ghana has one of the worse accents in africa, but it's acceptable because we are talking about african movies here not western movies, why would you want to change your accent? sound like who, that's colonial mentality. Bollywood do their movies in indian language yet it's recognised all over the world.is that why you're going p**no? to be like the white man? shame, shame.try and accept criticism and employ dramatists, playwrights, professional artistic directors to reconstruct the industry ,such movies disgrace those of us living outside africa. and please Ghanaians don't allow novices like joy the writer and stella to be disgracing you with their half baked ideas. use people with thorough and varied ideologies.

typos have NOTHING to do with accent, people make typos all the time. why do you people behave like educated illiterates? i can also say you have a bad accent based on your poor sentence structure....you see how some things work? and what n.n is saying is THE TRUTH! you people are so fake and wannabe. there is NOTHING African about Ghollywood. If i wanted to watch those type of movies, i would watch an American movie and see it being done THE RIGHT WAY. you people just copy copy copy. its even illegal to be gay in Ghana, yet your movies portray a different picture. i think this is just another case of copying blindly, trying to be more western than the westerners. its always you people that will shout "our accent is good, blah blah" when in reality, NO ONE CARES! its always the Ghanaians making noise about a damn accent, how pathetic. ITS CALLED AN ACCENT FOR A REASON. its also hilarious how you people don't label Americans for having bad accents when Americans pronounce NONE of the words like the British do. so does that also mean they have a "bad" accent? what determines a good or bad accent? what is a bad accent and what is a good one? very hilarious I must say. but with Nigeria it must be a different story, like always. and I've heard the average Ghanaian speak English and they sound nothing like your actors, so stop deceiving yourselves. same thick ass accent, no difference. some Ghanaians have no shame in themselves. they are here arguing over their colonial master's language. my question to you, IS ENGLISH OUR LANGUAGE TO BEGIN WITH? tell the white man to come and speak one of our languages and see if he speaks it perfectly, then we can discuss people having bad accents. Always elevating the white man. DARKEST SHADE OF SKIN WITH THE BIGGEST COMPLEX, ITS A PITY. anyway, its a common Ghanaian trait. probably the same reason they feel the need to fill their industry with half castes. BUNCH OF WANNABES!

The Brits, Americans, and others also pronounce "her" as "hee" not "haa" and "love" as "Lav" not "lov". Try listening to them speak and you will hear it for yourself. I am a Ghanaian and I know you Nigerians pronounce it differently but I personally do not care. Once I understand what you are saying I am okay. However, I have a Nigerian friend here in Canada. We go to the same university. The sad thing is that the professors hardly understand her when she speaks and most of the time I have to come in to save the situation. They keep asking her to repeat herself. It's very sad. It's because her (hee) pronunciation is different thus, difficult for them to comprehend her (hee).

the quailty of english you are speaking here is very irritating, what is 'u', I couldn't make any sense in your last sentences, the u.k referred you guys etc......that is poor english.I don't think you know the meaning of accent,it has to do pronunciation, not spelling,if you couldn't spell 'you' and you wrote 'u' then nma is not wrong after all, it could be a texting form of word.

I've heard the average Ghanaian speak and they sound NOTHING like your actors. watch the video from some Ghanaian kids called "MTV BASE CRIBS GHANA" and see the kind of English being spoken. even Juliet Ibrahim is terrible when it comes to speech. so who do you people think you're f**ling? you see why I said Ghanaians are always making noise believing that being more like the white man makes them "better" who cares if you think Nigerian accent is the worst, its just an accent and ENGLISH IS NOT OUR LANGUAGE. keep arguing and making dumb remarks over your colonial master's language. sounds like some neo-colonialism going on. tell the white man to come and learn one of our languages, and see if he speaks it perfectly. the same reason why Africans are killing themselves over imported religions such as Christianity and Islam. what defines a good accent and what defines a bad one. last time i checked, English is not our language. I want the white British man to come and learn Igbo or Yoruba, and speak it WELL! and do you really think that will be possible? so why do Africans make a big deal on speaking English like the white man, when its most likely a 2nd or 3rd language to some people. seriously, you folks need to wise up. FAKE STATISTICS! you people are sooooooooooooooo gullible!!!! incase you didn't know, the media is a big brainwashing/propaganda machine. did you know all the things they say Nigerians do in their country, they have been doing it LONG before Nigerians started going there? that doesnt even make sense to say that 90% of the crimes committed in South Africa are from Nigerians. just because they choose to print a story every time a Nigerian does something bad does not mean 90% of the crimes are from Nigerians. second of all, Nigerians have been in SA since the 80s, so why would thinks suddenly be different? huh? South Africans suffer from xenophobia (black south africans especially) because Nigerians have been taking their jobs and now they have to compete with us and a big influx of foreigners, Zimbabweans, etc etc. Did you know that there was a news story in South Africa saying how two Zimbabweans and a Nigerian were arrested for doing something and that the people should tune it at 6 pm to hear the rest of the story. when tuning in, they never made any mention of the Nigerian again, they merely said a Nigerian just to spice up the story. were people in Ghana not committing crimes before Nigerians came there? how do you know that the majority of the crimes being committed are from Nigerians? what is your proof? second of all, who mentioned population besides your insecure Ghanaian sister Stella, who mentioned protecting Africa besides you? I DON'T EVEN KNOW HOW YOU ANTI-NIGERIANS EVEN FIND YOUR WAY TO THIS WEBSITE. ITS A CLEAR CASE OF OBVIOUS JEALOUSY. STOP COMING HERE!!!! AND PEOPLE DIDN'T BELIEVE ME WHEN I SAID PEOPLE LOVE TO BLAME ALL THEIR PROBLEMS ON NIGERIANS.
kwame | 8/19/2010 9:48:22 PM |
the thing is most nigerians have been brainwashed and it has filled them with pride. whenever they want to boast, they would say we are the giant of africa. we delivered south africans from apartheid, we showed ghana how to make movies, we are the ones that stop the war in liberia and sieraleone, we are the one controling ghanaians economy. there is no doubt that nigeria should be ahead and be leading africa but the sad thing at the present state it lags in so many areas so they needs to calm down and put it house together. Iqboqueen you are always talking about ghana competing with nigerians but i beg to differ you have your politicians saying all sort of rubish about ghana. for example the amount of water in ghana cant flush the toilets in lagos, is that a way a diplomnat should be talking.
b.b | 8/19/2010 11:48:41 PM |
you have said it all, Bravo nigeria,we are the giant of Africa, there's nothing anyone can do about it. we set the pace others follow.Kwame you knew all these and you're still here making noise, What has Ghana done for Africa?mention at least one thing.nothing, all they're doing is blowing their trumpet of the wonderful accent they have, and how wonderful their economy has become, yet i've not heard that any Nigerian has come to beg Ghana for food.
IgboQueen | 8/20/2010 6:25:10 PM |
you are saying "its true" what is true? what is your evidence that Nigerians make up most of the crime in Ghana and South Africa? is that what you know based on statistics or thats what you want to believe? dont you know everytime a Nigerian does something bad it gets over publicized? the media IS IN FACT a big propaganda/brainwashing machine. don't just say things because YOU WANT to believe it. no one ever said we taught you guys how to make movies (at least i didn't say it) i was saying how you people were just local champions before Nollywood decided to give you guys a leg up. LOCAL CHAMPIONS!!! and Yes Nigeria has done all that for other African countries. Just because Nigeria isn't currently in a good state does not mean we didn't do what we did to help out. SO WHAT EXACTLY HAVE YOU PEOPLE DONE? ALL YOU DO IS BOAST ABOUT HAVING "GOOD" ACCENTS! lololol and i said it before and I'll say it again, the Nigerian politicians are NOTHING like the average everyday Nigerian. the average everyday Nigerian could care less or give two s**ts about Ghana or any Ghanaian. we do not concern ourselves with such because we are too self centered. LOL and what exactly has Nigeria been brainwashed in?
Ngozi | 8/20/2010 12:47:31 AM
I want to address the issue of accent here, because a lot of people are misfiring. accent is defined by webster's dictionary as emphasis given a spoken syllable or word.a mark showing such emphasis or indicating pronunciation.a distinguishing manner of pronunciation. So what the defination here is telling us is that accent distinguishes the way people pronounce words, in order words it is used to identify where people come from, so no accent is bad, because since it identifies who you are, every body believes his is the best,The Amaricans believe that British people have thick accent, and so also other European countries, they even make fun of them when they pronounce words ,while the british believe they speak the best english[queens english].God has given us different accents ,languages, dialects , culture as a mark of identification. When somebody from Texas speaks a newyorker says you 'got accent where are from?' and he will say 'i'm texan' so also a californian will say you have southern accent, when a Ghanaian speaks english,i will only identify him by his accent, may be because of prejudice i will identify some flaws in what they pronounce, because i feel mine is better, so also a Ghanaian.so we can argue the issue of whose accent is better till next year and get to nowhere. since the two countries whom English is their first language can't figure whose accent is better then we can't, it's just a mark of identification. The important thing here is for your english to be correct, we are imitating English, we Africans can't imitate English perfectly, because it's not our first language, even kids born abroad by the time they start interacting with parents and relatives you find out that little native tongue will show up. so Ghana your identity is your accent, Nigeria, your identity is your accent, no accent is better than the other. thanks every body.

look up the definition of accent. it doesn't matter how you pronounce it or whatever, as long as you are grammatically correct. a lot of Ghanaians behave like educated illiterates on this website. saying someone has "bad" English because they have a thick accent. some of the dumbest s**t I've heard in my lifetime. these people just talk talk talk.
EML | 8/21/2010 2:34:04 PM |
Our Nigerian accent and pronounciation is bad.Listen to my Igbo folks the way they say YEAR or my Yoruba folks saying MERCY.What is worth learning is worth learning well.Ghanaian accent is not all that super but m in terms of prounouncing most words , they are much better.Tanzanians ,Kenyans ,Nigerians we need to work on our accent !Nigerians more on prounounciation.FELLOW NIGERIANS EAT ME IF U WANT !
IgboQueen | 8/21/2010 4:29:13 PM |
LOOK UP THE DEFINITION OF ACCENT! and when you do that, come back and talk to me. there is nothing wrong with having an accent, as long as you are grammatically correct. I never knew there was a such thing as "correct" and "wrong" accents. you African people should stop disgracing yourselves talking about the English language when some people are learning it as a 2nd or even 3rd language. there is no "simple truth" to anything. simply because YOU believe talking more like the British means having a "better" accent, doesn't mean others have "incorrect" accents. tell the white man to come and learn one of our languages and then we can talk about pronunciation and accents.
EML | 8/21/2010 5:41:10 PM |
U can not do more than a dead rat.Whether there is a definition of accent or not the fact remains we Africans especially Nigerians need to learn how to pronounce correctly.Look at all newscasters and people into jingles in Nigeria , they go for training or they learn it themselves. The major problem is , there is not much emphasis on oral English in Nigeria.Sometime back on CNN , a prominent Nigerian was interviewed , all his statements had to be written out on the screen. In Europe and America, there are professors of African studies who speak African languages and have helped improved these languages. There is a white British in Oxford University teaching Hausa.IGBOQUEEN, don´t come to this forum to intimidate pple becos u are vocal or insultive. You lack tact most times. I have made my comments and let´s see what you want to do.You do not have monopoly of wisdom or answer on all issues.Your specialty and style is insult!
IgboQueen | 8/21/2010 6:20:19 PM |
its sheer inferiority complex that makes you believe there is something "incorrect" with having an accent. EVERYONE in this world has an accent, EVERYONE. for the simple fact that YOU believe there is something wrong with having a thick accent, and not speaking like the British, just shows you have inferiority complex, SIMPLE AS THAT. AS LONG AS YOU ARE GRAMMATICALLY CORRECT. and who cares if there is a white guy "teaching" or speaking it. IS HIS ACCENT CORRECT? does he pronounce everything in the "correct" way? or does his accent from his first language conflict with his Hausa?
EML | 8/22/2010 12:57:14 AM |
Is this all u can say?I thought you wanted to beat me up and ban me from here.Hear yourself or better still read yourself.See how inarticulate your arguments are!I thought you would be intelligent enough to know that , a lecturer(ESPECIALLY IN ADVANCED COUNTRIES) who teaches languages is well grounded in that language as to teach it!U may as well go to University of Oxford to verify things for yourself.U are free to exhaust yourself on this topic and insults!
IgboQueen | 8/22/2010 5:06:20 AM |
but the example you gave was poor anyway. he teaches the language, thats his specialty. I'm talking about the average everyday "Joe" tell them to come and learn Igbo or Yoruba as a second language after English, and see if it will be perfect. you used a professors, people that have MASTERED the language and teach it for a living. I'm talking about the average everyday "Joe" or all Nigerians speaking English are professors too? get your head out of your anus TELL THEM TO COME AND LEARN OUR LANGUAGES AND THEN WE CAN TALK ABOUT PRONUNCIATION AND ACCENT. you're reasons on "incorrect" pronunciation is just sheer inferiority complex. EVERYONE in this world has an accent. I will use my friend as an example: her first language was English but Spanish was her second language. she doesn't pronounce everything in Spanish the correct way because her already existing English accent gets in the way. ITS CALLED AN ACCENT FOR A REASON, AND AS LONG AS YOU ARE GRAMMATICALLY CORRECT, THERE SHOULD BE NO "WAHALA" ABOUT IT. I can't believe people would use a thick accent (which everyone in this world has) to say someone has "bad" English.

i knew Oil was one of the reasons they couldn't stop envying Nigeria. I have read it at least 20 times on this site "we have oil now....." hahahahaha! what do they want us to do? cry? OMG, i NOW know what they couldn't mind their own business. and to mention we have "water" Nigeria has water too. LOL and what do they mean "better educational system" there is nothing wrong with Nigeria's educational system depending on what state you go to. its part of the STATE government to keep their educational system in order. as far as I'm concerned, Southern Nigeria, Plateau/Jos, and Abuja have the best schools. and who taught anyone how to "shot" movies or act? do your own people even know how to act to begin with? hissssssss, dont ever insult. and did you people ACTIVELY help contribute to ALL African countries becoming independent or do you believe just because you were first you had a sudden hand in everyone's independence? so this is what they claim they have "done" PLEASE!!! LIVING ON FALSE GLORY! HAHAHA

I have never liked your writing, mainly because you haven't been very objective in most of your pieces. But I'm one to give credit where it is due. This has nothing to do with my nationality, but I have to commend you on your effort here.It seems you did extensive research on this ,even though the opening lines were filled with a few grammatical errors(maybe because of your passion behind the topic). This is the plain TRUTH and I thing both countries need to have intelligent people represent them instead of the dumb a*@# people who throw word from any part of their brains. Anyone who doesn't beleive you can GOOGLE this information up and they will be amazed by the truth in all of this. Thank you

Amen!

Out of Nigeria and out of our individual lives

feel very sorry for those f*****h Nigerians who are insane enough to think that “Ghanaians are our friends ; we are all the same; we should UNITE with them !” This is r*****h talk and very far from the truth!

Ghana has been exposed as a nation of liars and deceivers ; even on an official level! Repeatedly , Ghana had DECEIVED the world that Ghana “ is an oasis of democracy , of peace and tranquillity ; of decent and honest citizens ; unlike the others African countries ; expecially Nigeria “! But , like all TRUTH is constant , the reality of the hypocritical nation of Ghana is now out in the open for all to see! The Truth is : every accusation which Ghanaians have levied against Nigerians have now come back home to roost in Ghana ! Some of the numerous Ghanaians wicked lies to the world are as follows: • Nigerians are thieves and 4*9 fraudsters while Ghanaians are decent and very honest people with a low crime rate !” This is FALSE ! Ghana has one of the highest crime rate per population in Africa! All the crimes committed in Nigeria are also very rampant in Ghana , commited by Ghanaians ! •“Nigerians are hard drug pedlars but Ghanaians don't carry drugs !” False ! Ghanaians have been exposed as profilific drug couriers ; arrested , all over the world with some of them using fake Nigerian ID and passports! •Ghanaians have told the whole world that Nigerians are incapable of conducting free and fair election unlike Ghana! This is the biggest lie ever to proceed from Ghana! Ghana is now trying to effect some damage control by silencing the repentant election riggers who have come out recently to confess that the much acclaimed “ democratic and peaceful “ 2008 elections in Ghana were in fact a complete SHAM and an exercise in widespread expert rigging! Ghana's government is trying to sweet the allegations under the carpet and deny that anything like rigging ever happen! Ghanaians have claimed that Nigerians are suicide bombers! Black Africa' s FRIRST TERRORIST and SUICIDE BOMBER IS A GHANAIAN ! •Another lie - Ghanaians were expert film producers and had a “ thriving film industry called Ghallywood , long before Nigeria's Nollywood ! •Nollywood is jointly owned by Nigeria and Ghana because Nigerians cannot manage Nollywood alone ; so Ghanaians arrived on the scene to “ rescue Nollywood !” • “Nollywood must now depend on the gorgeous faces of Ghanaian actresses and actors BEFORE any Nigerian movie can record high sales!” These are THE lies of the century from Ghana ! Holy smoke! Ghanaians are so FAKE AND THEY CAN LIE ! LOL! Please EVERYBODY , watch your borders and your communities! BEWARE OF RAMPAGING WILDERBEASTS FROM GHANA!

Ghana , lie-lie, Ghana thief-thief, Ghana copy-copy! Ghana ole ! Ghana ole! Ole! Thief-thief ! Ghana devil of devils, receive fire and be consumed ! p***ycat , p***ycat , where have you been ? I have been to Nigeria to copy and scatter Nollywood ! Copy-cat , copy-cat , what did you do ? I copied Nollywood and then came back home and tried to duplicate Nollywood , bot I failed woefully ! Thief-thief copy-cat , copy-cat , why are you crying ? What is up now? I have been barred form entering Nollywood and Nigeria , ever again ! Thief-thief copy cat , don't cry ! At least you were able to copy and steal SOMETHING from them before they kicked you out of Nigeria! Boo-hoo! Yes I stole something from the i***ts but that was not what I wanted! Thief-thief cat , devil –devil cat , what did you want from Nigeria? I wanted it all , everything, the whole of Nollywood ; to teach the arrogant Nigerians a lesson ! They have NO RIGHT to own such a successful venture like Nollywood! Ah! Copy-cat , copy-cat , SORRY ! Don't cry! Accept my CONDOLENCES . I can't stop crying ! After all my cover –up efforts , the smart Nigerians were not f**led. They smelt a rat ; the rat inside my pocket ! They kicked me out! Thief-thief cat , never mind ! Nice try ! Try again ! So what are you doing now? I am visiting NFC to monitor Nigerians and to console myself by insulting Nigerians and telling them that they can stuff their useless Nollywood ! Good! Thief-thief , copy - copy cat! You need some consolation , indeed! If you are denied access into Nollywood , at least you can continue you copy-copy and thief-thief work by logging into NFC and monitoring them , EVERY DAY!

As far as I am concerned , I have better things to do on the internet and in my spare time than to engage in exchange of words with a bunch of losers from Ghana! I suggest all Nigerians should do the same. There is no need to argue and ask Ghanaians to leave! They are GONE , already; whether they like it or not ! It is FINISHED between us and them ! Ghanaians can boast as much as they want on NFC or elsewhere ; it cannot make any difference to the realities on the ground between the two countries . Ghanaians have lost the privilege of trust , friendship , cooperation , free access and free movement in any gathering of Nigerians ; which they used to enjoy ! They have lost it for a long time to come . Once you know your enemy , then you have defeated that enemy! It is a good thing that , now , most Nigerians KNOW the evil work and words which can proceed from Ghanaians . We cannot be taken advantage of by Ghanaians , ever again.

Ghanaians' obsession with Nigeria and Nigerians is so glaring and real . Nigerians DON'T regard Ghana and Ghanaians as worthwhile competition but not so for Ghanaians ! They see Nigeria and Nigerians as THE country and THE people to compete with and defeat and PULL DOWN , AT ALL COST ! That obsession is what brings Ghanaians in droves to not only NFC , but other Nigerian websites and WHEREVER they know Nigerians gather! The level of low mentality and naivety displayed by Ghanaians in their obsession with Nigeria is sometimes, very very funny! I remember the Ghanaian noise and childish glee which accompanied Obama's visit to Ghana . I was quite amused with the response of a Ghanaian female minister to a question form a BBC reporter . Hear this: BBC – “What does this visit form the US President mean for Ghana ?” Ghanaian minister : “ Eat is sermp lair ( It is simply) wand air ful ! ( wonderful!)” Days ays vai ry goodu f eair Ghana and it will brain-g ah lett eff dayvairlepmaints! ( In English: This very good for Ghana and it will bring a lot of developments!) Days Obama vaysayt mai-ens Nigeria is fer nayshed! It will pen them vair-y well ! ( This Obama means Nigeria is finished ! It will pain them very well !” LMHO ! OMG ! What a blunder ! I was so ashamed for her because THAT was not the answer to the question ! The BBC , NEVER asked about the effect of Obama's visit on Nigeria! How does Obama's visit means Nigeria is “ finished” and why should it “pain Nigeria “? What was the big deal? Is Obama a god to be worshipped by Nigerians ? Moreover , Nigeria has hosted at least two US presidents before Obama and did not see it as “ victory and one -up” over Ghana , or any other African country! Nigeria is still standing strong , Obama's visit or no Obama's visit! Obama's visit to Ghana was not meant by the USA as a snobbery to the Nigerian government as Ghanaians want the world to believe ! The USA knew and knows that Nigeria is NOT in the list of African countries , the USA can snob or toy with. NIGERIA means TOO MUCH to the USA! Why did the minister and the generality of Ghanaians not say “ this Obama's visit to Ghana means that Ivory coast or South Africa, Egypt , Libya , Kenya , Cameroun of any other African country is "finished and they should be ashamed and dying with disappointment ?!” Why mention Nigeria and why do Ghanaians see the visit as a “victory “ over Nigeria and not any other African country ? My people , we all know that “ OUT OF THE ABUNDANCE OF THE HEART ; THE MOUTH SPEAKS ! This is the result of the Ghanaian's National OBSESSION and INFERIORITY COMPLEX towards NIGERIANS! No wonder! If a Ghanaian minister can display such ridiculous low mentality and obsession with Nigeria ; what do you expect from the average Ghanaian ? However, despite all the noise about Obama's visit , the question to Ghana from the world is “WHAT” has Ghana got to show for the wonderful Obama's visit ; even after two years , since the event? EMPTY VESSELS , DEFINITELY, MAKE THE LOADEST NOISE !

Lucas , You are spot right , brov !I t is so glaring that Ghanaians are OBSESSED with Nigerians! Their number one head ache is NIGERIA and NIGERIANS! They are SO OBSESSED with what Nigerians are planning , or are doing and what we are thinking that they have been very desperate to say ANYTHING against Nigeria! If Ghana as a nation does anything , who is the first competitor , they think of : NIGERIA! When oil was discovered in Ghana , which was the first country they thought they are “ now equal to and greater than ” ? : NIGERIA ! ( Not Saudi Arabia or Venezuela or any other OPEC country ; but NIGERIA ! ) Which country in Africa does Ghanaians wish will disintegrate ? NIGERIA ! Which country on earth are Ghanaians always happy to hear that something bad has happened in ? NIGERIA! Ghanaians rejoice and clap their hands , jumping up and down for joy, like primary school children ; whenever they hear any bad news from NIGERIA! During the world cup qualifiers , which country did Ghanaians pray will never qualify for the mundial ? NIGERIA ! Not the “dangerous” Brazilians or German team! BUT NIGERIA ! If Ghanaians copy or destroy anything good that Nigeria has done Ghanaians feel great and fulfilled about “this great feat”! It is a pity that when you are obsessed with catching up with or destroying a perceived “competitor “; you can only do so if that person is WAITING on the same spot for you to catch up with them! How can Ghana “catch up “ with Nigeria when the latter is at least 30 years ahead of Ghana and is not standing still for some desperate wannabes , running and panting in pursuit behind Nigeria ? Ghanaians' insane Obsession with all that is Nigerian; will only lead them into the committing blunders and into the depth of desperation and failed expectations!

NFC change your name! This website , NFC , powered by Ghanaweb , is visited by not only Nigerians , but other Africans and many non Africans , from all over the world who enjoy visiting here.. Their MAIN attraction to NFC is the name “Nigerian”. Also, the juicy Nigerian stories featured by NFC and MOST OF ALL , the gorgeous Nigerian faces shown here ! Writers like Joy can come her to BLAB because she knows that , thanks to Nigerians , she has a wide viewship on NFC! You would notice that Ghanaians are the group of people who come here to quarrel with and insult Nigerians! Other non- Ghanaian FOREIGN visitors come AND GO quietly, enjoy themselves and leave without causing ANY trouble for anyone , like civilised people should do! What is the solution to this incessant intrusion and hostility from Ghanaians on NFC ? SIMPLE ! NFC should change its name to Ghanafilms.com –GFC ! Not only that , then GFC would start featuring Ghanaian faces and film stories! THEN WAIT AND SEE WHAT WILL HAPPEN! Then Nigerians AND MANY OTHERS, would definitely , NOT visit GFC because it will not be worth visiting ! The internet is full of better options! Then the huge traffic and adverts following into NFC would NOSE DIVE! That would not encourage liars like Joy to write UTTER r*****h like this ONE ! If you doubt this my projection , TRY this change of name and removal of the “Nigerian” content, for say , only month ! A trial will convince NFC , POWERED BY Ghanaweb!

Ok....on the same website, NFC, there was an article about a ghanaian producer called Leila who said she enjoyed working with Yemi Blaq....do you know how many comments people posted? less than 15......why because it was actually shedding a positive light about ghana...ok now go on the same website scroll down a little and read the ghanaian articles, yes, they are alot so be patient...for a site called nigerian films, there is quite alot so patience is the key, ok read the articles about called: GHANA NIGERIA MOVIE INDUSTY WAR; TOTAL NONSENSE Ghanaian Actor MAJID MICHEL lied!: He should apoloGiSe tO Nigerians Ghana can't ban Nigerian actors, we're important to them—Segun Ghana Churns Out Another 'p**n' Film. Sex Workers In Ghana Protest Against Nigerian Invasion Read the posts and see how many posts, there are....I bet you you can't even count them all because there are sooo much....There were soo much posts that one of the s****d writers on this forum thought it was a great idea to enlarge the screen so there can be more room for more posts....But you see the embarrassing article about Pete and Olu was deleted because it showed how some nigerians are truly animals for insulting and fighting among themselves because of tribal differences...each group was trying to show why the other was better...yes just like the ghana vs nigeria articles but in this case it was happening in their own country...Mind you, the article about Segun saying ghana can't ban nigeria was posted way way way before the Olu vs Pete article came out, yet the newest one(Olu vs Pete) is gone...and the ghanaian onces are still there after weeks and weeks of being there...And what they do is move one down and replace it with other negative ghanaian article I tell you hatred is a serious disease...People wonder why things are not going well in their lives but they forget it is about the way they treat others who have not done anything to them...Nigeriafilms writers you will always be ignorant because at this stage in your life there is no hope for you...I just feel bad for your future generations because karma passes on to generations and generations to come....Learn to love for ghana has not done anything to you...Nigerian actors are in ghana, even your site acknowledges that because Yemi Blaq is working with Ama and others produced by Leila..>So nigerians are in ghana, just like ghanaians are in nigeria..So what are all these articles about and what are you trying to prove?..>Learn to deal with it and move on and stop acting like children....we are in the 21 century, and ignorant minds like yourselves are in the past...
