Nigerian multi award winning author and feminist Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie has shared the story of her own experience of harassment by a man because she wanted a favor from him.

Chimamanda who has now joined the #MeToo movement disclosed that she is also a victim of this harassment by the opposite gender and it has to stop.

At the just concluded Stockholm Forum for Gender Equality, she was a key speaker and she shared her ordeal at the young age of 17.

She told a story of how she wrote a book on poem and took it to a big man in the media who she had believed would help her promote the book to the public.

But instead the man had other motives in his mind has he slipped his hand under her clothes and then into her bra to squeeze her breasts after few minutes of lavishing praises on her for a wonderful write up.

Chimamanda said;

“I was so shocked that I did nothing for seconds. But then, I pushed his hand away, gently, nicely, because I didn’t want to offend him. Later that day, I broke out in a rash on my face, neck and chest. It was as though my body was recoiling, as though my body was saying what my lips had not said.”
